AI, Meaning &
Architectural Judgement

When AI can generate options quickly, what turns an option into an architectural proposition worth carrying into reality?

Generation is not the end of design.

MOLD is exploring the distance between an AI-generated possibility and a responsible architectural decision: interpretation, context, intention, judgement, adaptation and realization.

İdrak → Niyet → İnşa

Rather than treating this as a slogan, the research asks whether these stages can help us describe parts of design judgement that are often compressed into the word “creativity”.

What MOLD can test

  • How AI-generated design options are interpreted and filtered
  • How context changes a generated option
  • Where human responsibility enters the workflow
  • How design rationale can remain visible
  • How qualitative judgement can sit beside quantitative optimisation
  • How teaching and workshops can make these decisions discussable

Academic context

This stream is related to Burak Tosun’s separate academic work with Prof. Dr. İlham Enveroğlu, Selçuk University, around Yunus Emre, AI, art, design and architecture. The academic paper has its own literature, argument and publication process.

MOLD does not reproduce the paper. It translates the underlying design question into an applied research programme. This academic collaboration does not imply a formal partnership with the university.

Latest research milestone

Burak Tosun’s abstract on AI-assisted architectural design through Yûnus Emre has been accepted for oral presentation at ICAAD 2026. The full paper remains a separate next stage.
